About Alvin Rockhill

Alvin T. Rockhill is a patent attorney whose journey in the field spans more than four decades. He holds a deep appreciation for the intersection of science and law, which has formed the backbone of his career. His understanding of these disciplines began at DePauw University where he earned a degree in Chemistry, and further deepened at the University of Illinois, where he earned a Master's degree in Metallurgical Engineering & Polymer Chemistry. Mr Rockhill was also awarded a J.D. from the Pettit College of Law at Ohio Northern University.

Upon completing his education, Mr. Rockhill joined The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. There, he dedicated 24 years to learning and understanding the nuances of patent law within the context of a global company. His time at Goodyear was a valuable period of growth and learning, which he has carried with him throughout his career.

In 1997, Mr. Rockhill embraced the opportunity to contribute to the legal field as an educator. He joined the University of Akron School of Law as an Adjunct Professor, a role he cherishes to this day. He has guided aspiring legal professionals in patent prosecution, patent law & policy, and international patent law. His aim is to pass on the insights he's gleaned over the years to the next generation of patent attorneys.

Today, Alvin T. Rockhill continues his commitment to both the legal and scientific communities. His journey in patent law, marked by years of service and continuous learning, has reinforced his belief in the importance of protecting innovative ideas. His ongoing contributions to the University of Akron School of Law, his dedication to his clients, and to the field of patent law as a whole, underscore his commitment to supporting and fostering innovation.
